Photo Arts Creations workshop was started by Irene & Johny Alives. Ovarian cancer took Irene to a better place early in 2005. Johny is continuing the workshop with a new partner, Lise Landry Alives. Lise has brought both a spiritual and a creative force to the workshop. Her influence will have a great impact on the style of the photo art, bringing a refreshing new beginning to the studio design works.
Early childhood in 1950's Europe has impacted the photography style which was additionally influenced by the photo surrealism of Jerry Uelsmann, Man Ray and Anne Brigman.
Photo Arts Creations workshop produces only original works of art, from quaint European scenes, to surrealistic fantasy - all limited art editions that are signed and numbered.
Lise and Johny split their time between a rustic cabin high in the cool mountains of North Carolina, and the warm Indian River Lagoon in Florida.
...................a little about the composition of our art works and picture sizes
Throughout our art works, we try to, as much as possible, to follow the ancient ratio or proportion determined by PHI - the number 1.618. Since Grecian times, this ratio has been known both in nature and art, to give a feeling of beauty and balance. Phi is also the bases for the golden section used by artists such as DaVinci and Seurat. We use this ratio to determine the composition when we photograph a scene or during the digital enhancement stage. Our print sizes are also determined by this ratio and therefore our sizes are not the norm ( e.g. 10 x 16 ).
